NRL for Disorders in Hemostasis

The department is included in the Complement of the laboratories of the IHBT. It continuously advocates an independent and impartial assessment of the professional competence of the Complement of Laboratories according to the ČSN EN ISO 15189 standard, the application of which is verified by the Czech Institute for Accreditation. The test methods within the scope of accreditation are defined by the Annex to the Certificate of Accreditation in the current version, which is available on the IHBT website.

The National Reference Laboratory (NRL) for Haemostasis Disorders was established in 1993 and is a continuation of the highly specialised work of the Laboratory for Haemostasis Disorders.

Expert activities

It carries out consular activities in the diagnosis of haemostasis disorders and laboratory diagnostics for the whole Czech Republic. It introduces new methods and procedures in the investigation of haemostasis disorders, including genetic causes of congenital haemostasis disorders. It cooperates with centres for the treatment of thrombosis and haemostasis, helps in the introduction of new methods. Prepares lectures on new investigation methods and on problems and errors in existing methods. Since 1993 he has managed the National Registry of patients with congenital coagulation disorders.

Control activities

Since 1996, organises and prepares the annual inter-laboratory comparison of samples for quality control "Determination of mutation of factor V Leiden, prothrombin gene 20210A, PAI-14G/5G, 677T and 1298C in MTHFR gene". He supervises and prepares the EKK material for SEKK (SEKK spol. s r.o., Pardubice) in specialized coagulation methods. He supervises the SEKK EKK cycles in haemocoagulation and comments on the results. Cooperates with SUKL in quality control of therapeutic products (e.g. FVIII, VWF, AT).

Collaboration with foreign organizations

Regularly participates in testing of international calibration materials for routine and highly specialised methods organised by ISTH, NIBSC (National Institute for Biological Standards and Control) or UK NEQAS. Collaborates in international laboratory studies monitoring e.g. new anticoagulants, new treatments for haemophilia or rare haemostatic disorders

Confidence and high data security is one of the basic priorities within the activities of the Complement of Laboratories of the IHBT. The established procedures are carried out in accordance with the Personal Data Processing Act 110/2019 Coll. and Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC.
