Collection Laboratory

The department is included in the Complement of the laboratories of the IHBT. It continuously advocates an independent and impartial assessment of the professional competence of the Complement of Laboratories according to the ČSN EN ISO 15189 standard, the application of which is verified by the Czech Institute for Accreditation. The test methods within the scope of accreditation are defined by the Annex to the Certificate of Accreditation in the current version, which is available on the IHBT website.

The blood collection laboratory of the Transfusiology Department provides blood collections and basic blood count tests on the SYSMEX XN10 analyzer for donors from the Apheresis and Transfusion Departments. If necessary, it is also possible to examine 5 population differential leukocyte counts. Erythrocyte sedimentation rate is also determined in the laboratory.

The collection laboratory also carries out quality control of already produced transfusion products. For this analysis of transfusion products, the analyzer is equipped with a special mode called Blood Bank mode. This mode analyses the blood elements in the transfusion products, and counts the residual cells in each transfusion product. We are the first laboratory in the country to use this procedure to determine the quality of transfusion products. When checking the parameters of freshly manufactured and stored transfusion products, we follow the recommendations of the Council of Europe's 'Guide to the preparation, use and quality assurance of blood components' and the requirements of State Institute for Drug Control .

For the needs of the Apheresis Department, the collection laboratory also measures cell products (stem cells, photopheresis, etc.).

The staff is bound by confidentiality according to the Health Services Act, 372/2011 Coll.
