Significant expansion of instrument capacity at the IHBT for sequencing and fragment analysis
In September 2015, a new ABI 3500xl high-capacity sequencer was purchased for the HLA department . Like the older instruments of this type working in the department (ABI 3130 and ABI3500), the ABI 3500xl is used primarily for the needs of our department in routine HLA genotyping of patients and potential donors of hematopoietic stem cells and for monitoring cellular chimerism as a basic test for monitoring the success of transplantation.
In addition to our own use, we also process samples from other IHBT laboratories that use this precise molecular genetics method for routine patient testing as well as for their research projects. In previous years, the capacity of the instruments was completely full, and the processing time increased unbearably in some periods. With the acquisition of the new sequencer, the processing time for routine samples has been significantly reduced, and the increased capacity of the instrument allows all research requirements to be met.
