Outpatient Department and Day Hospital
The outpatient section provides hematological care to a wide range of patients - from new patients, through patients undergoing long-term outpatient follow-up, patients undergoing intensive hematological treatment, including patients after hematopoietic cell transplantation (bone marrow), to patients hospitalized in another facility and referred on a consular basis for specialist examination.
We diagnose and care for patients with a range of haematological and haemato-oncological diagnoses including very rare haematopoietic diseases.
We are located on the ground floor of Building B within the IHBT campus. You will find a total of 11 outpatient clinics, 4 of which specialise in the care of transplant patients, with a further 2 outpatient clinics operating within the Centre for Thrombosis and Haemostasis (details here). We also have a common collection room, a performance room (where we perform invasive examinations such as bone marrow puncture and biopsy, lumbar puncture, etc.) and a day hospital used for the administration of intravenous drugs, transfusions, chemotherapy, etc.

New Patient Appointments:
by phone: 221 977 315 - acute cases - call anytime, others please call after 12 noon.
We prefer to make an appointment directly with the patient's attending physician/practitioner requesting a haematological examination.
Individual orders at the IHBT are dealt with directly by the doctor, so please review and take the hematology request form and the referring physician's report with the laboratory results (i.e. the documents your physician has issued to you to make the hematology appointment) before calling. The outpatient physician will ask the reason for the hematology appointment (always stated on the request form) and will determine the appointment based on the current laboratory values.
When you arrive at the outpatient clinic, take a ticket with a number on it at the entrance (choose the "collections" option). After calling your number, you will first deal with the paperwork at the reception desk (prepare your insurance card and ID) and then you will be called by the same number for the collection. You can shorten the waiting time for the examination by writing down your medications taken (including grams) and personal medical history (this is all your past and concurrently treated illnesses and operations). This will not only simplify our work, but also significantly reduce the overall examination time. Nevertheless, please reserve at least 4 hours of your time for the initial examination.
