Outpatient Department and Day Hospital

The IHBT Outpatient Department offers specialist consultations of patients requested by other establishments and provides complex medical care to patients who do not require admission.

It mainly caters for patients before and after bone marrow transplantation as well as those suffering from hematologic malignancies, congenital and acquired bleeding conditions or serious red blood (erythron) system disorders. At the same time, the department also deals with patients who need examinations unobtainable elsewhere.

The Outpatient Department also provides follow-up care for patients who were previously hospitalized in the inpatient sections of the IHBT and whose health condition has deteriorated. These patients are cared for in the Day Hospital, which includes eleven beds and three separate boxes. All beds can be connected to monitoring equipment, as well as oxygen and compressed air sources. The Day Hospital naturally includes barrier-free entrances and sanitary facilities for patients.

Patients in the Day Hospital receive transfusions, infusions, cytostatic treatment and undergo other complex medical procedures. These patients may then return home for the night. Thus, the Day Hospital is a highly important part of the IHBT, especially given the growing number of patients treated at the Institute.
