Certification

The ÚHKT regularly undergoes an accreditation process with Czech and foreign auditors. This process helps to create an environment of maximum quality and safety and thus achieve maximum results in the care provided.

Joint Commission International (JCI) Quality Certificate

Joint Commission International (JCI) is an independent international organization with fifty years of experience in accrediting healthcare facilities. It evaluates the quality and safety management system of healthcare services according to international standards. These set out procedures in the field of patient care. These primarily concern the availability of care and its continuity, examination and treatment of patients, respect for their rights, but also lifelong education of healthcare professionals. The standards also provide rules for hospital operations and quality management, patient and employee safety, information protection, staff qualifications and prevention of hospital infections. The JCI international quality certificate is awarded for 3 years; before the end of the three-year accreditation period, the healthcare facility must be re-examined.

The ÚHKT received the prestigious accreditation agency award in 2007 (as the third Czech facility) and, according to accreditation rules, defends it at three-year intervals. It last defended its JCI accreditation in 2025 ( Certificate of Accreditation ). The ÚHKT is the only holder of this certification in the Czech Republic.

Joint Accreditation Commission (JAC) Quality Certificate

The Joint Accreditation Commission (JAC) accredits healthcare facilities in the form of an external quality assessment in healthcare, which is directly or indirectly related to patient care. The aim of JAC accreditation is to continuously improve the quality and safety of healthcare. Quality assessment is carried out by assessing the compliance of processes taking place in a healthcare facility with accreditation standards. The accreditation survey is carried out by JAC auditors, who are doctors, non-medical healthcare workers and administrators in healthcare, and is carried out according to the so-called Stopař methodology - it assesses whether the care of the auditors selected patients is carried out in accordance with the internal regulations of the facility, or in accordance with the JAC accreditation standards. JAC accreditation is granted for a period of three years. The last accreditation survey was successfully carried out in the ÚHKT in 2023 ( Certificate of Accreditation ).

JACIE certification

The Joint Accreditation Commission of ISCT-Europe & EBMT (JACIE) is the only official accreditation body in Europe for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and cell therapy. It promotes high-quality patient care and medical and laboratory practice through professional voluntary certification.

The ÚHKT voluntarily signed up to the JACIE professional standards and, as a center of excellence with its own research activities closely related to the healthcare provided, in 2025 it obtained the status of a certified transplant center for the second time (for the period from April 15, 2025 to April 14, 2029). This fact facilitates participation in international clinical trials that bring the findings of medical research closer to clinical practice ( Certificate of Accreditation ) .

European Federation for Immunogenetics (EFI)

The European Federation for Immunogenetics (EFI) is an international professional society that aims to support the development of immunogenetics in medicine and research. It not only mediates the exchange of information, but also contributes to the dissemination of skills and knowledge among professionals in this field (immunogenetics, histocompatibility testing, transplantation medicine). Based on expert discussion, it issues and regularly updates recommendations for the standardization of methods, quality control and professional criteria for accreditation, the implementation of which is assessed within the framework of the accreditation survey.
