Conditions of donation
Basic conditions for donation
- Age 18-65 years (1st donation is suitable up to 60 years)
- valid ID card, for foreigners living in the Czech Republic (long-term residence in the Czech Republic, valid health insurance, ability to communicate in the Czech language)
- minimum weight 50 kg
- medical eligibility for donation (see temporary and permanent restrictions on donation below)

Temporary donor restrictions
- During menstruation, 3 days before and 3 days after menstruation
- When taking medicines, including over-the-counter medicines (except hormonal contraceptives and vitamins)
- 7-10 days after taking NSAIDs (Brufen, Ibuprofen, Aulin, Diclofenac, Surgam) and
- drugs containing acetylsalicylic acid (Acylpyrine, Aspirin, Anopyrine),
- drugs containing paracetamol do not matter (Paralen, Panadol, etc.)
- 1 week after healing of the cold sore
- 14 days after a mild infection (cold, cough, etc.)
- 1 month after antibiotics
- 1 month after diarrhoeal disease
- 1 month after a tick bite
- 4 months after surgery
- 4 months after endoscopic examination
- 4 months after blood transfusion
- 4 months after tattoo, piercing
- 6 months after cure of Lyme disease
- 9 months after giving birth, 6 months after stopping breastfeeding
- 1 year after cure of hepatitis A, mononucleosis
- for people with high blood pressure - they can give blood if they take only one medicine
- and have compensated blood pressure
- severe allergy sufferers - they can give blood for milder forms of the disease,
- without acute problems and without treatment
- in case of vaccinations and other uncertainties after discussion with our doctor
- 1 month after a stay outside Europe
- 1 month after a stay in European countries with the disease
- West Nile fever (information in the Register)
- 6 months after a stay in malarial areas
- 1 year after taking antimalarials
Permanent donor exclusion
- HIV positive and all those in permanent contact with them
- people who have had hepatitis B and C and all those in permanent contact with them
- drug use
- alcoholism
- residence of more than 12 months in the UK and France between 1980 and 1996
- cancer
- diabetes
- heart disease
- post-transplant
- blood diseases
- kidney disease
- chronic gastrointestinal diseases
- bronchial asthma
- autoimmune diseases
- epilepsy
- multiple sclerosis
- glaucoma and retinitis
Foreign donor
- residence in the Czech Republic for more than 1 year
- insurance with a Czech health insurance company
- ability to communicate in Czech
