Postgraduate training of other health professionals (NHSP) - health laboratory technician, general nurse, laboratory methods technician

The IHBT, as an accredited higher type workplace for the field of Clinical Haematology and Transfusion Service, enables postgraduate training for NHSPs in specialised departments and laboratories (cytogenetics, flow cytometry, molecular genetics, morphology and cytochemistry, coagulation, immunohaematology). In addition, the Institute has accredited the practical part of professional module 5 and professional module 9 of the specialisation training programme for general nurses - Nursing care in oncology and haemato-oncology.

Traineeships are carried out on the basis of trilateral contracts between the IHBT, the sending organisation and the trainee, or bilateral contracts if the trainee is not sent by any organisation that pays for the traineeship. More detailed information about the contracts can be found here.

Postgraduate training in other disciplines (virology, molecular genetics, clinical biochemistry) involves high school or university students who have the required qualifications in the relevant fields as trainers.

The functions of a supervisor for postgraduate medical education are governed by the requirements in Decree 95/2004 § 20 . For NHSPs, they are defined in Decree 96/2004 § 59 (only a health professional with specialised competence in the relevant field may be a supervisor).
