Labs Complement

Motto: To provide highly specialized diagnostic and care in hematology and hemato-oncology by synergies of laboratory and clinical hematology, transfusion medicine and research laboratories.

The main task of laboratory complement UHKT is to ensure the quality and availability of laboratory test processes and results, to provide consultation and training services and to collaborate on research projects within the UHKT.

Haematology is medical discipline with great research improvement. The sign of high quality and professional approach is our immediate implementation of new scientific trends. We strive for quality, complexity and accessibility of laboratory services for all patients.

Complement of laboratories has established management system for the requirements of the standard ČSN EN ISO 15189 Medical Laboratories - Quality and competence requirements; it has been accredited by the Czech Accreditation Institute since 2009. The quality system set up in the organisational structure defines the tasks, competencies and responsibilities of individual employees.

Scope of services

The UHKT Laboratory Complement carries out highly specialised laboratory tests. The quality of the results is ensured by experienced staffing of the laboratory and by the application of the latest knowledge in laboratory tests. Some of them are established National Reference Laboratories; by preparing samples they participate in external quality assessment within the Czech Republic. The head of the laboratory is always responsible for the high-quality level of service.

Within the particular laboratories there is year-round training of high school and university degree of health professionals in preparation for certification in Clinical Hematology and Transfusion Service and Clinical Genetics; doctors are also trained for laboratory work as part of certification in Hematology and Transfusion Medicine. In addition, teaching is also focused on postgraduate studies.

The services include results interpretation and counselling services, are designed to meet the needs of patients. For clients, the full range of laboratory tests offered and services provided is outlined in laboratory manuals.
