Excercises

The comprehensive care of patients in the Clinical Department is complemented by the care of experienced rehabilitation professionals - physiotherapists.

Rehabilitation is an important part of the treatment of haemato-oncology patients, which improves the quality of life and helps to gain as much independence as possible.

It includes exercises aimed at improving movement, muscle strength, balance and breathing function, leading to increased physical fitness.

1. Gradual exercise

- Begin with expanding ranges of motion and stretching.

- Use isometric exercises (static postures such as plank) that involve muscle contraction without changing the length of the muscle and without moving the joint. This exercise increases muscle strength and stability without the need to move a large load.

- The next phase is concentric exercise (e.g., using dumbbells of appropriate weight).

2. Submaximal aerobic exercise

- Physical activity where the intensity does not exceed 85% of your maximum heart rate, e.g. running or cycling. Perform the activity so that you can still talk.

3. Recreational sports

- Physical activity for fun and relaxation, aimed at enjoyment of exercise and personal satisfaction, not for competitive performance. This includes light hiking, cycling, swimming, dancing, yoga, etc.

Consult your treating physician or physiotherapist for any decline in fitness.
