Motto: To provide patients with highly specialized diagnostic care in the field of hematological and hemato-oncological diseases by combining laboratory and clinical hematology, transfusion medicine and research laboratories.

The complement of laboratories of the Institute of Hematology and Haematology is a unit formed by the merger of the clinical, transfusion and research laboratories.

The main tasks of the Laboratory Complement of the IHBT are to ensure the quality and availability of laboratory test results, to provide consultation and training services and to collaborate on research projects within the IHBT.

Haematology as a medical field is a field with revolutionary discoveries in medical and diagnostic care in the new millennium. The hallmark of our professional approach is our immediate response to new trends and to published scientific findings. The complement of laboratories of the Institute of Medical Research follows this approach in all areas of its activities. Our aim is to provide the best possible service to ensure the full satisfaction of our doctors and patients. We strive for quality, comprehensiveness and accessibility of laboratory services for all patients.

Complement of the laboratories of IHBT has an established management system for the requirements of the standard ČSN EN ISO 15189 Medical Laboratories - Quality and competence requirements; it has been accredited by the Czech Accreditation Agency since 2009. The quality system set up in the organisational structure of the Complement of the IHBT Laboratories includes the procedures, processes and resources necessary for the quality management of laboratory activities in accordance with the ČSN EN ISO 15189 standard, and defines the tasks, competencies and responsibilities of individual employees of the Complement of the IHBT Laboratories.

Scope of services of the Laboratory Complement of the IHKT

The ÚHKT Laboratory Complement carries out highly specialised laboratory tests. The quality of the results of the laboratory tests is ensured by sufficient staffing of the laboratory and by the application of the latest knowledge in the implementation of laboratory tests. In accordance with the development of science and technology and the needs of clients, the scope of examinations is continuously updated. Some laboratories work as National Reference Laboratories; by preparing samples they participate in external quality assessment within the Czech Republic. The head of the laboratory is always responsible for the level of service.

Within the individual laboratories there is year-round training of high school and university health professionals in preparation for certification in Clinical Haematology and Transfusion Service and Clinical Genetics; doctors are also trained for laboratory work as part of certification in Haematology and Transfusion Medicine. In addition, teaching is focused on doctoral studies.

The services of the Complement of Laboratories of the IHBT, which include results interpretation and counselling services, are designed to meet the needs of patients and clinical staff responsible for patient care. For clients, the full range of laboratory tests offered and services provided is outlined in each facility's Laboratory Manual.
