Basic programmes of the clinical section
Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, mainly from unrelated donors, after both conventional and reduced-intensity preparation. This programme has undergone significant development in recent years and IHBT is the centre with the largest number of these demanding procedures in the Czech Republic.
Haematological intensive care (including artificial pulmonary ventilation and extracorporeal elimination methods; specialised care is also provided by consultants from other medical disciplines in addition to our own specialists).
Treatment of patients with acute myeloid leukaemia and acute lymphoblastic leukaemia according to international and national protocols.
Care for patients with myelodysplastic syndrome ( MDS), rare anaemias and myeloproliferative syndromes; the designation of IHBT as a European Centre of Excellence is recognition of the quality of diagnostic and therapeutic care for MDS patients.
Treatment of patients with chronic myeloid and chronic lymphocytic leukaemia.
The programme of diagnosis and treatment of patients with acquired and congenital bleeding conditions, thrombophilic conditions. The care of these patients is concentrated in the Clinical Department in the Centre for Thrombosis and Haemostasis. In addition to routine medical care, the staff of this part of the clinical unit is also involved in the determination of carrier status and prenatal diagnosis of haemophilia. The unit also includes a National Reference Laboratory for Coagulation and a reference facility for certain DNA methodologies, which works closely with the Centre for Thrombosis and Haemostasis.
Scientific projects and research , including participation in grant projects and studies, are an important part of the activities of all departments of the Clinical Unit.
Rare diseases. As part of the Rare Diseases Care Development Programme, the IHBT received a grant from the Ministry of Health to create a Rare Disease Registry of the Red Blood Series.
