VIZE 2030

Between 2019 and 2022, Phase I of the renovation of Building A and the new construction of Building D, the Pavilion of Progressive Medicine, took place. In 2023, Phase II of the renovation of Building A will begin, and upon completion in early 2025, the building will serve the transfusiology department.
The commissioning of this building will free up the space needed to relocate the research laboratories from Building C. Once these have been relocated and the administrative offices have been moved from Buildings C and E, it will be possible to demolish these buildings and construct a new Building C in their place. Building C will be used by the clinical section when it is completed in 2028. The new Building C will house a modern transplant unit, intensive care unit, inpatient stations, clinical laboratories and clinic facilities. Closely related to the new building C will be the reconstruction of the north courtyard of the Institute of Clinical Medicine, which, once completed, will offer high-quality facilities for patients, visitors and staff.
Finally, the gradual reconstruction of the largest and oldest building on the IHBT premises, the listed Building B, will begin, where, once completed, the science and research, operations and investment and economic departments will find new facilities. The renovation of Building B is scheduled for completion by the end of 2030. Upon completion, the Construction Unit will cease to operate and will thus fulfil its purpose.

Building A - Phase I of reconstruction

The reconstruction of the listed Building A, which serves the Transfusiology Section of the IHBT, is divided into two successive phases. Phase I, completed in 2022, included the reconstruction of part of the first underground and first above-ground floor of the eastern wing of the building, including, among other things, deepening of the foundations and extension of the premises in the 1st floor (including connection to the new extension of Building D under the entrance to the premises), extensive layout modifications throughout the entire part of the building and replacement of all technical equipment of the building. The first stage of the reconstruction included the installation of a new frost chamber. Phase II of the reconstruction, which involves the layout of the remaining part of the building, will start in 2023 with a planned completion date of the end of 2024. The architectural design of the reconstruction is by Ing. arch. Václav Čermák. The designer was KANIA a.s., the construction was made by the association of Zlínstav a.s. and GEOSAN GROUP a.s., the technical supervision of the builder was performed by Area Prague s.r.o.

Building B

In addition to the usual minor structural modifications of the listed Building B, the reconstruction of the cold chamber in Building 3 was carried out in 2022. NP (removal of the existing cold chamber and delivery of a new one) and preparation of a larger construction project, affecting the 1st floor of the eastern wing of the building, the subject of which is the establishment of new transplantation clinics and modification of the premises for biobanking laboratories. This project will be implemented and completed during 2023.

Building D

In mid-2022, the new construction of Building D was completed according to the architectural design of Ing. arch. The modern new building has two underground and three above-ground floors, roofed with a flat pitched roof.
Part of the building, penetrating from the 2nd floor up to the 2nd floor. NP, occupies the space of the central warehouse of ÚHKT, where the stored material is stored in a modern automated stacking system. The above-ground part also houses the operations of the inpatient pharmacy, the gastropub, currently offering breakfast and lunch, the seminar room and the offices of the doctors and laboratory technicians of the Cell Therapy Department. In the underground part, which extends below the courtyard area between Buildings A, B and D, there is a cryostorage facility for the storage of samples, blood derivatives and other substances at very low temperatures and associated liquid nitrogen storage tanks, the clean room laboratories of the Cell Therapy Department and central changing rooms for the clinical and transfusion staff, in addition to the filing rooms and part of the pharmacy.
The designer was KANIA a.s., the construction was made by the association of Zlínstav a.s. and GEOSAN GROUP a.s., the technical supervision of the builder was performed by Area Prague s.r.o.
The artwork Triumph was installed on the main staircase of the building in May 2022, the author of the work is David Nosek.

Outdoor areas

As part of Phase I of the reconstruction of Building A and the extension of Building D, part of the front courtyard (between Buildings A, B and D) was renovated. In the rear yard (between Buildings B, C, E and F), most of the surface of the internal pedestrian and vehicular road was reconstructed. Reconstruction of the road surfaces is scheduled to continue in spring 2023.
