What is the size of the team attending to patients?
Patients of the Hematological ICU and Transplant Unit are attended by a team of experienced professionals in medicine and nursing. Medical care is provided by a group of very knowledgeable physicians in the field of transplant, intensive and resuscitation medicine.
Intensive and resuscitation medical care is provided to patients threatened with the failure of essential life functions, or those whose essential life functions failed in the course of the treatment of their basic hematological disease. The department has modern instruments and provides top-notch care in the field.
The nursing part of the patient care is provided by an extensive team of general nurses and support staff with rich experience in intensive and transplant hematological care. Their practical experience is based on continuous learning in the respective fields of care of hematological patients. Nursing education is also supported by the IHBT in specialized educational programs destined to intensive and resuscitation care, as well as on university campuses.
Complex patient care in the Hematological ICU and the Transplant Unit also includes the care of fitness provided by an experienced team of rehabilitation professionals. Attention is also paid to dietary measures during treatment which, apart from nursing personnel, are looked after by a dietary team. Patients’ awareness of social problems is supported by an experienced professional engaged in social care. If necessary, a psychotherapy consultant can provide continuous care, and spiritual support can be also offered by the hospital chaplain.
